Stato, fiscalità e debito pubblico nella Corona d’Aragona nel XV secolo. La Diputació del General dei regni di Valencia e Sardegna

Questa tesi si propone di studiare e confrontare le origini e l’evoluzione di due istituzioni fiscali tardomedievali: le Diputacions del General dei regni di Valencia, da un lato, e di Sardegna, dall’altro, nell’arco temporale del regno di Alfonso V il Magnanimo. Il confronto ci permetterà di determinare perché quella valenciana si sviluppò e sopravvisse, mentre quella sarda si consolidò solo più tardi. A tal fine, lo studio si avvarrà dell’analisi delle fonti primarie relative alle istituzioni, sia della documentazione finanziaria – fiscale e creditizia – e sia di quella diplomatica, per determinarne il funzionamento interno, l’impatto territoriale e le relazioni con il resto della Corona d’Aragona. 

State, Taxation and Public Debt in the Crown of Aragon during the 15th Century. The Diputació del General of the kingdoms of Valencia and Sardinia

This thesis aims to study and compare the origins and evolution of two late medieval fiscal institutions: the Diputacions del General of the kingdoms of Valencia, on the one hand, and Sardinia, on the other, in the reign of Alfonso V the Magnanimous. This comparison pursues to determine why the Valencian one developed and survived, while the Sardinian one did not consolidate until later. To this end, the study will make use of the analysis of the primary sources of the institutions and related agents, both financial documentation – fiscal and credit – and diplomatic documentation, to determine their internal functioning, territorial impact, and relations with the rest of the Crown of Aragon.
