Curriculum vitae

Francesca Cariccia, with a keen interest in marine ecology, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in 2018 at the Polytechnic University of Marche. Subsequently, she graduated with honors in Marine Biology from the Polytechnic University of Marche in 2021. Her master’s thesis, titled “Response of meiofauna communities to a restoration intervention of Gongolaria barbata along the Coast of Monte Conero (Central Adriatic Sea),” showcased her experimental work.

During her master’s studies, Francesca did her internship abroad at the Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation in Greece within the Erasmus Traineeship program. After her graduation, she won a research fellowship at the University of Cagliari focusing on the effects of climate change on commercial and/or protected species.

Presently, Francesca is pursuing a Ph.D. program at the University of Cagliari, within the Life, Environmental, and Drug Sciences – Ecology curriculum. The project is being carried out under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Pusceddu and with the support of a grant co-funded by Ministerial Decree No. 352 of 9.4.2022, the European Union-funded PNRR NextGenerationEU – Mission 4 “Education and Research,” Component 2 “From Research to Enterprise,” Investment 3.3, and the International Marine Centre (IMC) enterprise. Her research focuses on studying the effects of warming and heat waves on lagoons and/or marine coastal ecosystems.
